I looked at the provincial GDPs on Wikipedia, and for 2010, Quebec's was $319,348 versus $263,537 for Alberta (millions). If Alberta outgrows Quebec by an average of 3% a year it will take seven years for Alberta's GDP to exceed Quebec's. If Alberta outgrows Quebec by an average of 3% a year it will take ten years. I should probably update these with the 2011 numbers, because I'm guessing Alberta had some healthy growth versus weak growth for Quebec.
