The Canadian jobs numbers for December are out and surprisingly they are up by 39,800 following strong growth in November as well. Considering the tepid GDP growth of the last few quarters in Canada, these numbers are unusual. Certainly Canada doesn't seem to be doing much productivity wise.
It's hard to see this continuing, although Canada has been cranking out jobs with low GDP growth for several years now, so maybe it will continue. Plus with the US sorting their fiscal cliff issue which could lead to stronger US GDP growth in the first half of 2013, the Canadian job train could keep a rolling.
