Looking Forward to 2012 Sunshine Data in Hamilton and Ontario

Surly Hamiltonian loves sunshine data. Certainly I wouldn't want my salary splashed around for all to see, but in Ontario the past decade, the public sector is the place to be, not the private sector.

Around Hamilton, I'm looking forward to seeing the sunshine data for Mayor Bob Bratina's chief of staff Peggy Chapman after all the brouhaha last year. To be fair to the mayor though, his overall office costs are down significantly from his predecessor.

Former McMaster Association of Part-Time Students head Sam Minniti's sunshine entry for 2012 should be interesting. Here's his LinkedIn profile; I notice that's he has updated that he is no longer working for MAPS.

The total number of Hamilton city workers on the list should be interesting. The overall number will only go up reasonably due to pretty low wage increases for most of the city, but solid raises for police and firefighters should bump up the numbers. At some point, pretty much all the constables will be on the list, then their contribution to increasing the total number will be stagnant. Kind of a scary thought.

The local school boards will be somewhat interesting. The recent teacher salary freeze by the government means that from September on, salaries were frozen, however there was still an increase for the January to August period relatively. Very few teachers get on the list anyways, because they have to teach summer school, get extra money for being a department head or the like, but the trickle should increase a little bit. The grid isn't frozen, although I would expect the few that make it on the list have been at the max for a while.

McMaster and Mohawk should be interesting. I'm not really sure what overall salary increase are like there, although I don't think they're frozen, so the list should increase significantly.

The local hospitals should also be interesting. Few physicians are on the list as the majority get paid by OHIP directly and those that would be on it are already on it as it is pretty hard in Ontario to make less than 100K as a physician. Nurse salaries have been frozen somewhat so I would expect the list to increase somewhat, but certainly not as much as in a boom year.
