So former Tory cabinet minister Elizabeth Witmer is resigning to head up the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. Obviously this is problematic for both the Tories and the NDP as a Liberal win in the bye election leads to a Liberal majority, as they are just one seat away now.
This brings up an interesting strategy for NDP voters in the riding. If you hate the Tories, you could vote for the Liberal candidate, however if the Liberal wins, there goes the minority and chance to influence the government and also control of committees (i.e. Ornge) to make the Liberals miserable. The NDP from what I've seen is polling decently now, so a Liberal majority would mean years before another election would take place. What do you do if you're Andrea Horwath? Run as hard as you can to take Liberal votes from the Tory candidate? Somehow suggest that NDP voters vote Tory?
