2014's Fourth Murder Victim in Hamilton, Richard Doucette

Continuing an anomaly in the trend of homicide rates in Hamilton in 2014, Hamilton recorded its fourth murder, Richard Doucette. The Spec is reporting that the murder was in an apartment in the Barton and Mary St area (Ward 2) and Doucette was stabbed along with another female.

Four murders in two months extrapolates to 24 murders in one year, which is considerably higher than any other in any recent year in Hamilton. The first victim was shooting victim Marley Rowe, the second Margaret Elizabeth Steer was stabbed and the third was Ernie Sitter who was reported to have died of blunt force trauma.

First Hamilton Homicide of 2014 Identified, Marley Rowe

This Spec article identifies Hamilton's first murder of 2014, 23 year old male Marley Rowe. Rowe was killed early on New Year's Day. Considering the relatively high murder rate in 2013, having this murder occur a few hours earlier could have boosted the rate 2013 even higher.

I'm going to try and attempt to make at least one blog post about every murder in Hamilton in 2014 like I tried last year.

Rowe apparently was shot in the back of the head outside an apartment that may have used as a speak easy in the Barton and Sherman area. From the Spectator photographs, Rowe had a white mother and a black father so from a demographics basis the victim was a mixed race male.
