Update on Previous Post on Hamilton Spending on Flood Relief

Thinking some more on my previous post about the city spending $4 million per year on $2,000 funding per house on sewer backup valves, I'm wondering if this is means tested in any way. Maybe it already is, but if not that's crazy. If someone owns a $500,000 house, then they can pay for their own backup valve. I would suggest setting a limit of $200,000 of assessed house value for the full $2,000 and then scale down to $0 for a $300,000 house with no funding above.

This is important, because $4 million per year is a significant amount of money.
