Off-duty Hamilton Police Officer charged
A
12-year member of the Hamilton Police Service was arrested and charged
on April 4, 2013 as a result of an off-duty domestic incident.
On
April 3, 2013, Hamilton Police were notified by Guelph Police Service
of an investigation into allegations of a domestic incident that
occurred in Guelph, involving an off-duty Hamilton police officer.
The Guelph Police Service has charged a Hamilton police officer with one count of Uttering Threats. The officer has been released from custody and will appear in Guelph court on April 26, 2013.
The officer has been suspended from operational duties and will be re-assigned to administrative duties. The name of the officer is not being released as it may identify the victim.
I believe that's five officers suspended, but I'm not exactly sure.At least a month with pay seems likely. The Guelph location is interesting to me, because I'm always interested in where Hamilton police live. If a low percentage live in Hamilton, I think that is yet another reason to limit the police service's funding. If little of the money in salaries is spent in Hamilton, then that needs to be considered at budget time.
